How to use the EE Builder top bar

The EE Builder Top bar provides easy access to various features, including the Content panel, Tools menu, and the title of the page or post being edited, allowing for efficient navigation and management.

Title Bar

In the EE Builder, the top bar shows the type of content being edited (page, post, etc.) along with its title.

Access the Tools Menu

Saving Indicator

In the EE Builder, the Top Bar's upper right corner displays the status of your changes: "Saving" (while changes are being saved), "Saved" (when changes are saved), and "Edited" (when new changes are made). This ensures that your changes are autosaved, even before manually saving or publishing.

Outline Panel

To view and modify the structure of your page layout, click the Outline icon in the EE Builder's Top Bar. This opens the Outline panel, displaying your layout in a hierarchical outline format.

Done Button

The behaviour of the Done button depends on whether you've made any editing changes in this session.

The Done button will appear grey when there has been no editing changes: Click Done when it's grey and you exit the EE Builder editor with one click.

The Done button will appear blue where there has been editing changes, and the status Edited appears to the left.

When you're done editing a page in EE Builder, click Done in the upper right corner and select one of the following:

Discard

Discards all changes made or saved since the last time the page was published. This includes all saved but unpublished work from previous sessions.

Save Draft

Saves your page and exits the EE Builder editor. The changes made in that editing session are not visible except when editing in EE Builder.

Publish

Makes the changes live, accessible to the world at large if you're working on a public site.

Cancel

Returns you to the EE Builder editor.
